Music of Lully, Boismortier, and Charpentier
Louis XIV threw the best, the biggest party in the gardens of Versailles in 1664 for six-hundred guests. The fête included fireworks, menageries of exotic animals, horse races, ballets, elaborate banquettes as well new operas for eight days and nights. At Communitea, the Pleasures of Versailles will include instrumental music by Lully from Atys, La grotte de Versailles, and Les Plaisirs de l'Île Enchantée, Les Impromptus de Fontainebleau by Chedeville, and Charpentier's Les plaisirs de Versailles.
